The government is constantly making new efforts to increase the crop production and income of farmers. In this series, the Bihar government has started a great scheme for farmers, in which 50% subsidy is being given for adopting mulching technology. This technology will not only increase the production of crops, but farmers will also get more profits in low cost.
Know what is mulching technology
Mulching means covering the soil around the crops with something particular, which keeps the soil moisture, does not grow unwanted grass and also stops soil erosion. This technique is very beneficial for the farmers because it produces more in less irrigation and crops do not deteriorate quickly.
50% grant will be given on adoption of mulching
The Horticulture Directorate of Horticulture Directorate under the Agriculture Department of Bihar Government has launched this important scheme for farmers. Under this scheme, farmers who adopt mulching technology will be given 50% subsidy by the government. Under this grant, the government will bear half of the expenses incurred for multitude of farmers and this money will be sent directly to the farmers’ account. This will enable farmers to get good crops in low cost and there will be a tremendous increase in their income.
How will the income of farmers double?
The government believes that if farmers adopt mulching technology, then their income can be doubled. Many reasons account for this:
-The need for irrigation will be less, which will save water.
-There will be control over the road, which will reduce the cost.
-Consumption of pesticides and fertilizers will be reduced, which will reduce the expenditure.
-Mitti moisture will remain, due to which crop will be good and more production will get more.
-The temperature around the crops will be controlled, so that the crop will be safe for more days.
When production will be high and the cost will come down, then it is obvious that farmers will benefit only. This is the reason that the government is implementing this scheme rapidly.
Other benefits of mulching
Mulching technology also gives many other benefits to farmers, such as:
-The roots of the crops are strong and their growth is good.
-Mitti erosion stops, due to which the soil of the field remains fertile.
-There is moisture in the soil, due to which the crop does not deteriorate even in summer.
-Unwanted Grass does not grow, due to which the farmer does not need to repeatedly weed.
-Insecticides and chemicals have to be used less.
Drip irrigation will benefit more
Along with mulching, if farmers adopt drip irrigation ie drip irrigation system, then they will get even more benefit. In drip irrigation, direct water is transported to the roots of the plants through a pipe, which:
-Water is saved.
-There is no erosion of money.
-The growth of crops is good.
-There is more yield at a high cost.
